Erica's Work at Ziet Media

How To Go Broke 101

This is a satirical take on terrible financial decisions one can make. In this short reel, the presenter makes snark remarks on everyday financial mistakes.

The rationale behind this video was to combine dull financial topics with something we all enjoy; comedy. People who need financial advices are most likely at the life stage where work is exhausting - they probably don't need to be watching a boring video that mansplains to them about how they've done everything wrong.

As the company is seeking to grow its audience from the originally "affluent, well-educated, financially literate" demographic to a larger one, we had to incorporate something more down-to-earth and empathetic to our content.

That Blur Colleague

Boss said he want fun office videos like how they do it at Blankslate ah, so I wrote this lor.

Jokes aside, this was inspired by a real-life event that once happened in the office. Numerous videos like that were made as an attempt to showcase the laidback, funny nature of the office life back in Ziet Media. We wanted to connect to the audience through widely shared experiences.

As a writer, this remains as one of my favourite works I've done back there (mainly because I don't like writing finance pieces but let's pretend I have serious reasons). It's funny, entertaining, and gives followers a break from content that are more educational.

"How do people do it?"

THIS. This is that dull, boring, educational, finance video I've been yammering about.

It is one of the earlier videos that have been released following the brokerage platform, moomoo's launch in Malaysia. Ziet Media worked closely with the brokerage company to promote its launch, demonstrating all the possible ways to invest with moomoo.

The idea of this video revolves around leading by example instead of preaching about the sponsor. It is written with the intention to showcase what investors commonly do with the app, instead of hard-selling to viewers.

Long Video: I Found Out How Rich People Avoid Tax

As the direction of the channel slowly pivots from financial tutorials to economic discussions, I took part in co-producing and ideating this long video.

The challenge of YouTube video creation is coming up with an interesting hook. Gotta keep your viewer from dropping off at the 00:15 mark y'know. This project, I helped the main writer to craft the intro, from the visuals to the copy.
